Vision and key areas
Agaris aims to be the preferred partner for sustainable and
top performing solutions, with respect for natural resources.
To identify our most critical priorities, we conducted a double materiality assessment. This process involved extensive consultations, including industry research, benchmarking, and engagement with internal and external stakeholders. This shaped our strategy, resulting in 8 key areas for our company. Recognizing the importance our stakeholders place on these topics, we have structured our sustainability strategy around them.
Environment: Sustainable Product Development, Sustainable Packaging, Sustainable Peat Extraction, Sustainable Water Use, Climate Change
Social: Health & Safety Employees
Governance: Sustainability Due Diligence, Product & Service Quality
Our goal is to shift from 70/30 (peat/alternatives) in 2020 to 35/65 by 2032, thus reducing the overall peat content in our product portfolio by 50%.
We are on good track to walk the talk. Peat-free substrates are being tested by several growers and research centers. Moreover, we compare with competitor alternatives to ensure we stay ahead of the competition. It’s also important to actively participate in the sector’s many subsidized project initiatives. As we believe that today peat is in some cases still the best performing ingredient, we aim to maximize the use of Responsibly Produced Peat (RPP). This guarantees for ourselves and our clients that our harvest methods and the nature restoration plans of our peat bogs have been well considered.
